I'll admit it, I was not willing to commit the time to read all 2000 or so pages (or whatever it is) of the entire Urantia Book. Still, I was curious to know a little about it.I read excerpts and commentary complied/written by Elstrott in The Fifth Revelation (which I do recommend), but I wanted more. I thought that this book, The Center Within, would be like that, but unfortunately it was not so.The Center Within appears to be a collection of "channeled" (not sure what else to call them) messages that are said to be related to the Urantia teachings. There are quotes from the Urantia book after each message on a similar point, presumably selected by the editors.I realize that the Urantia Book itself may have a similar "channeled" origin (again using this terminology for lack of better), but this makes "double channeling" I guess and a bit much for me.In fairness, the messages are not bad, although a little repetitive and preachy at times. I did find some to be quite inspirational, but overall this book was just not I was looking for when I got it.

For those who feel the 2,097 page tome, called The Urantia Book, is too much to handle all at once, I highly recommend :The Center Within" as a heart-based way to feel God's love through the UB. Short paragraphs followed by quotations or sections of the UBook seem to be just the ticket for busy Urantians who can only manage small bites of Truth to absorb and practice daily. Patience is required reading the Big Blue Book, but having an intro book lights the fires of a spiritual seeker.

This book is a great inspiration for daily thoughts with Urantia quotes at the bottom. A highly inspired book for reading. I highly recomend I purchased several for my truth seeking friends.

I had expected a more traditional book-style text, explaining some of the principles of the Urantia book in easy language. Instead, it was in the form of short 1-2 page essays. Each one was accompanied by a matching excerpt from the Urantia book. Even though it wasn't what I expected, I enjoyed it. The channelled messages do give additional insights and advice for daily living. I'm marking it down a bit because about 30 pages were out of order. I had considered sending it back, but the postage would not have been all covered by Amazon, plus, I thought chances were good I would get another misprinted copy. I'll keep it around to refer to from time to time whenever I need a dose of inspiration.

Are we in for an extended conflict between left and right? I dusted off my 2006 copy of David Horowitz "The Shadow Party" and got my answer. If you are looking for answers/explanation that outlines how George Soros and the radicals from the 1960's seized control of the Democrat Party and created this conflict, this book is for you. The book is still relevant today, truly enlightening and answers fundamental questions like, what motivates a guy like George Soros and why does he so religiously advocate an open society?The following is an excerpt from another online source, but gives you an snippet of what Horowitz discusses in depth. "George Soros was born to Tividar and Erzebat Schwartz, non-practicing Jews, in Budapest, Hungary on August 12, 1930. Tivadar was an attorney by profession, but the consuming passion of his life was the promotion of Esperanto—an artificial, "universal" language created during the 1880s in hopes that people worldwide might be persuaded to drop their native tongues and speak Esperanto instead—thereby, in theory at least, minimizing their nationalist impulses while advancing intercultural harmony. In 1936, Tivadar changed his family surname to Soros—a future-tense Esperanto verb meaning "will soar." When the Nazis occupied Budapest in 1944, Tivadar decided to split up his family so as to minimize the chance that all its members would be killed together. For each of them—his wife and two sons—he purchased forged papers identifying them as Christians; paid government officials to conceal his family's Jewish heritage from the German and Hungarian fascists; and bribed Gentile families to take them into their homes. As for George in particular, the father paid a Hungarian government official named Baumbach to claim George as his Christian godson, "Sandor Kiss," and to let the boy live with him in Budapest. One of Baumbach's duties was to deliver deportation notices to Hungary's Jews, confiscating their property and turning it over to Germany. Young George Soros sometimes accompanied the official on his rounds. Many years later, in December 1998, a CBS interviewer would ask Soros whether he had ever felt any guilt about his association with Baumbach during that period. Soros replied: "… I was only a spectator ... I had no role in taking away that property. So I had no sense of guilt."Soros today recalls the German occupation of Hungary as "probably the happiest year of my life." "For me," he elaborates, "it was a very positive experience. It's a strange thing because you see incredible suffering around you and the fact you are in considerable danger yourself. But you're fourteen years old, and you don't believe that it can actually touch you. You have a belief in yourself. You have a belief in your father. It's a very happy-making, exhilarating experience."In 1947, the Soros family relocated from Hungary to England, where George attended the London School of Economics (LSE). There, he was exposed to the works of the Viennese-born philosopher Karl Popper, who taught at LSE and whom Soros would later call his "spiritual mentor." (George Soros, Underwriting Democracy (1991), p. 170)Though Soros never studied directly under Popper, he read the latter's works and submitted some essays to him for review and comment. Most notably, Popper's 1945 book The Open Society and Its Enemies introduced Soros to the concept of an "open society," a theme that would play a central role in Soros's thought and activities for the rest of his life.The term "open society" was originally coined in 1932 by the French philosopher Henri Louis Bergson, to describe societies whose moral codes were founded upon "universal" principles seeking to enhance the welfare of all mankind—as opposed to "closed" societies that placed self-interest above any concern for other nations and cultures. (David Horowitz and Richard Poe, The Shadow Party (2006), p. 67) Popper readily embraced this concept and expanded upon it. In his view, the open society was a place that permitted its citizens the right to criticize and change its institutions as they saw fit; he rejected the imposed intellectual conformity, central planning, and historical determinism of Marxist doctrine. (Nicola Chalton, ed., Philosophers: Extraordinary People Who Altered The Course Of History (2008), p. 159) By Popper's reckoning, a society was "closed"—and thus undesirable—if it assumed that it was in any way superior to other societies. Likewise, any belief system or individual claiming to be in possession of "ultimate truth" was an "enemy" of the open society as well. Popper viewed all knowledge as conjectural rather than certain, as evolving rather than fixed. Thus, by logical extension, Popper did not share the American founders' confident assertion that certain truths were "self-evident," and that certain rights—such as the right to "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness," as referenced in the Declaration of Independence—were "unalienable" and thus not subject to doubt, because they had been granted to mankind by the ultimate authority, the "Creator." We shall see that George Soros, as he grew to maturity, would likewise reject the founders' premise. Indeed Soros would harbor great disdain for modern-day American political figures who displayed unshakeable confidence in their own culture's nobility, and who embraced the tenets of the Declaration and the U.S. Constitution as timeless, immutable truths. I learned SO I learned so MUCH about the real agenda of the Clintons & who is mentoring them. I understand now why we are experiencing so much unrest and I now understand why we have so much violence in our country. The current administration is following the Soros/Alinsky playbook, & their Rules for Radicals. No matter what your political views, this book is a great history lesson & it helps us understand WHY there is so much destruction, violence, poverty and unrest in our cities now. This is all part of the Soros/Alinsky playbook. Many of the riots & disturbances at political gatherings are planned and orchestrated by this administration and are from the Alinsky/Soros playbook. The Clintons & their inner circle, who they have been mentoring/working with for decades are the operatives who are carrying it out. This book & there are many others out, has been a real eye opener for me. It helped me understand WHY all this is happening in our country now. We are the next target on Soros's list of countries that he has and continues to work to bring down. Then he goes in and buys up all the valuable assets. They are getting wealthier & we are getting poorer and struggling more. What's wrong with this picture? History repeating itself. Educate yourself and ....WAKE UP AMERICA!

I met and became friends with a successful business man who had moved to California from his homeland, England. He told me of George Soros and his manipulation of The United Kingdom's economy/currency. I was dumbfounded and, almost, in disbelief that one man could do such damage to the economy/currency of an entire nation ... but, I did believe my friend. Since then, I've followed George Soros in a very general sort of way. This book was written in 2006 ... so that now, eleven years later, the accuracy of the authors' insight and research is very apparent! Democrats take note: George Soros and his Shadow Party have infiltrated and influenced and are taking control of your party for their own clandestine and greedy purposes. It appears to me that The Shadow Party picked the Democrat Party to infiltrate and pollute first because Dems have a greater inclination toward change and empowering a big government. But, the Soros's (father and now son) are/have targeted the Republican Party, too. In a couple of elections it won't make any difference how we vote ... George Soros will be winner no matter what. Take a breaking from work, shopping, wrapping and decorating; sit and relax before going to bed but keep yourself in a jolly festive mood and color this book.

I am very pleased with all the lovely Christmas designs in this mandala coloring book. It is unique and different from any of my other coloring books. I would recommend this for anyone who enjoys coloring Christmas themed artwork. The adorable mandalas really bring a smile to my face once they are colored. I love Jade Summer coloring books.

I like the simplicity of the images. The mandalas are simple and cute. The reason I am giving this a 3 star rating is because the paper quality of this coloring book is terrible. It is thin and doesn't have much "tooth".

The story is told back and forth from the trial to Patrick's memory spanning his whole life.Two different actors play the voice of Patrick; John Rhys-Davies as Patrick the elder and Seán T. Ó Meallaigh as young Patrick. The story begins on the day of his capture by Pirates and goes until he is preparing to head to an island on Lough Derg. It was awesome just closing my eyes and listening to this presentation. My son who is 10 came in when I was almost done and asked if I could start over and listen to it with him. (One of his middle names is Patrick and he has a devotion to the saint.This story presents not just the great saint but the man. His trials in school, in ministry and even the literal trial he underwent. It is very well done and I am thankful to have listened to such an excellent production. If you are a fan of the Saint, or just love all things Irish you should give this story a listen.

I had heard that this was a pretty good cook book and I decided to order it. To my surprise, it is going to be one of my favorites! The easy recipes, the stories and the pictures are all so nice. The recipes call for everyday items that you would have in your kitchen or could easily pick up. There are over 125 recipes in this colorful, picture-filled book and I can not wait to make them all. This would also make an excellent gift for a cook of any level, an east coast enthusiast, or a person who enjoys the nautical life.

This was a big generous cookbook and story by Ricky Lauren. The recipes are delicious. The book shows you the rich and famous like food we do too. Very happy with this book, in excellent condition and enjoy each recipes.

I love this book! The recipes are to die for! They are easy to follow, and delicious. I love the photos of the Laurens. It is like sharing a family album. The photos are sharp, crisp, and artful. I am purchasing more copies to give as gifts.

Here's a chance to view the Lauren's wonderful life in the Hamptons - a life most of us will never experience. The book is full of great photos and recipes. I gave a copy to my Mom for Christmas then had to get one for myself as well!

Ricky Lauren encorporates the enviable life style amd history of the LAuren Family in the Hamptons with fun and delicious recipes. I have made seven or so recipes and they were easy and delicious! Plus the book has gorgeous photographs.
