I watched the anime because I like Romi Park (voices Ganta) and was disappointed in how the series ended. I am glad to be reading the manga because there is much more to Ganta's story than what the anime provided. I know the series didn't do too well in Japan, but I am glad to have the opportunity to read the manga at least. It's graphic, deep, and has quite a bit of emotion. Recommended for people who like Tokyo Ghoul.
I have already read the whole series via my kindle, but I also wanted to have a physical copy. I don't read too many of these books, but this was my exception. Normally I feel like the art is rushed in these types of books, especially since they must have hectic schedules, but I thought that the art is amazing in this book. It seems like every image had a lot of time and effort put into it. Furthermore, considering I already read the entire series, I think that the story is exceptional as well.
I watched the anime before reading this manga. I couldn't find a place to read DmW for free, so I decided on a whim to give it a shot. So far, just like the anime. However, I am getting the feeling that the similarities are going to end real quick as the anime was a huge disappointment. I love DmW, and I really hope this turns out better than the anime.It's very interesting for those who love blood and Gore, and DmW has a lot of dark themes, and a very dark tone, so go into it with caution.The story follows Ganta Igarashi, trying to survive in the privatized prison, Deadman Wonderland, the cruelest prison in existence. Ganta has been sentenced to death, but soon discovers the power to wield his own blood as a projectile weapon. In fact, he is one of many Deadmen inside of the prison. So, all in all, a good start, concept, and so far, a great execution (pun intended). Can't wait to read more.
I saw part of the anime awhile back and thought it was mediocre. However, I was able to get volume 1 at a good price so I thought I'd try it. This is a gripping story about a corrupted prison. If you don't like that sort of thing, then you won't enjoy this. There are also some supernatural elements in here. The characters are mysterious and leave you wanting to know more about them. I love the undertones here of corruption (in this case, of a prison) and how people feed off of other's misery. Also of whether to follow a messed up rule and go unpunished or go against the current and be punished for it. There is more than meets the eye to this series. I will definitely be reading the whole series! Well, see you again!
I love this manga. It only took the first chapter and I was hooked. The quality of the book was pristine and the art is marvelous. The story line is quite humorous in the dark and morbid kind of way. My girlfriend went and bought the next 3 chapters as an early xmas gift after I bragged about this chapter. I would highly recommend this for those who like brutal manga.
I always liked the anime series, but I wanted to read the manga because there is always more to the stories. Deadman is no exception. While they did a great job of keeping the anime very close to the source material, the manga offers a lot more in terms of character development and depth.
This series is not for everyone but it sure is for me! I love the idea of a prison amusement park with a dark twist. I am not one for gore but I was able to read through this series no problem!
the story goes through the life of a school boy named Ganta.One day when he was in school and a evil man dressed in red killed all of his classmates and left him alive.when the cops came it looked as if Ganta had killed his classmate,he was framed.he gets sent off to a prison called deadman wonder land.and its up to him to escape .i can't tell you any more because that would spoil the story. pros:great story good character development good art style plot twist cons:none
