An excellent message for girls instead of the "Prince Charming", happily ever after ending. This kooky story has humor and a more realistic view of marriage;challenging and requiring compromise and work!
The Frog Prince, Continued, is one version of the Frog Prince I chose for my daughter's first-grade classroom. It is the followup to the Frog Prince. Students will also enjoy the reference to other Fairy Tales within the story. When children can see many versions of the same tale it adds to their understanding of story and character development. Plus, they have the enjoyment of hearing the story and seeing the many different illustrations. It encourages them to create their own stories and drawings. I loved it.
Love, love, love this book. Read it to my boys when they were little, and I still love it. The pictures really make it.
My roommate, also a teacher, introduced me to this book for years. It is fantastic. I buy it for all my young students. In the story, the frog prince comes upon three witches. It is not blatant which fairy tale the witches are from, so it is a great practice in deduction. It also serves as a great conversational piece - "What happens after 'happily ever after'?" After reading this story, I have my more advanced students write sequels to their favorite stories (reading and writing exercise from one book).
I read this book when I was in middle school, I love the Frog Prince Continued book, the pictures are what really sucked me in though, good illustration and story telling. I am going to buy another copy for my niece.
This is such a fun book. Have you ever wondered what happens after a book ends with, "and they lived happily ever after?" Well this book answers that question and it is rib-tickling amusing....The kids you know will break into smiles as the story reveals itself. I have already suggested this book to adults looking for a "different" story with known characters. Give it a look, you wioll like it.
