This book is a must-read resourse for anyone working in, or interested in knowing about nonprofit fundraising. There is a quote by Albert Einstein at the start of this book: "You don't have to know all the answers, you just need to know where to find them". Well, THIS book is where to find all the answers when it comes to nonprofit fundraising, and all things related to it. This book should (and very may well be at some point) a college textbook. It is loaded with useful, step-by-step information. The author obviously truly enjoys helping others to learn the ins and outs of nonprofit fundraising. There is an old Taoist proverb: "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime". In this book, the author, Mr. Heyman gives the reader the tools needed to "fish" for a lifetime. Kudos to the author for an informative and inspiring book!

A really helpful guide. I'm on the board of an organization that is struggling with fundraising, and the information in this book has been so useful.

I had to buy this as a text book, which usually means the reading stinks, but is a good book with valuable insight that is MUCH better to read than the textbooks for my other classes!

I love this planner. It makes me think about me and plan "me" in the month. I recommend this planner for anyone who has a busy schedule and need a little help planning your day and month. I loved it so much I purchase two of these ( one for me one for my daughter) and the one with stars for a friend. Get planner for the price.

The story itself is delightful. I enjoy “prince and the pauper” stories. My three stars is due to some glaring editing problems.1. In chapter ten it states that “David escorted his brother and sister to the school room”, but they are his niece and nephew.2. One entire scene is repeated a second time 200 pages later. The dinner scene with the older half-brother, when the Emily plays Lacrimosa on the piano. Chapters nine and ten.

Great story of twins separated by birth and finding each other after grown up. They find family and love! This is a great read.

This is one of two books that tells the story of two sisters who were separated shortly after they were born. A marquess's wife nearly died after giving birth to her only daughter. The infant died that night, and not wanting his wife to be broken hearted at the child’s passing, he arranged for a servant to acquire a replacement infant from the seamier side of London. The servant chose a not-quite-on-the up-and-up orphanage, where twin girls had just been born. So the servant took one of them back to the marquess. The first couple of chapters after this setup detailed the charmed life Lady Emily led. Unfortunately, her mother died; her mother's fondest wish had been that she marry a duke. They both have a flash of attraction, of course, but he not only has just taken a vow of celibacy after a rather tawdry split from his most recent mistress, but he is also aware that he shouldn't allow romantic feelings for his wards’ governess. How will this all play out? Will he be able to keep his feelings and inappropriate thoughts in check, or will they grow? Will Lady Emily tell him that she is not Ava but nobility herself? What are the strange things that seem to be happening around the house? Is someone trying to poison James, the young Lord Dunstable, the duke’s ward? What's going on with the wards’ much older brother and uncle?As you might be able to tell, this is a rather complicated story with multiple plotlines. The author actually did an excellent job of juggling them. I found it interesting that she actually made the duke a true rake. Quite often in these Regency tales, a gentleman who is said to be a rake merely is just a misunderstood young man either by his design or by society’s incorrect judgment. Not in this case. In fact, the first chapter told from the duke’s perspective shows the roguish character the man is as he grapples with the image of the man he wants to be. Even though he wants to improve, he still definitely has moments where that rake comes through, and it is very well done and quite amusing.I thought that the setup for the premise of the book was rushed. The two young women meet and question each other a little bit and then immediately decide that they have to be sisters. Not only does that seem improbable, but then they decide instantly to do Lady Emily's swap scheme. It was just too neat, tidy, and convenient. The book also felt rushed in the end, both in finding out what happened to the other sister as well as resolving Lady Emily’s plotline.Aside from the issue of the rushed setup and end, the story itself was quite engaging. The wards, James and Cressida, are delightful, James with his sweetness and Cressida with her reticence yet longing for connection. The duke is at his best, too, when he is trying to learn how to be a proper guardian to these two lost young Souls.The book has an alarming number of issues with grammar, punctuation, and usage. The author didn't seem to understand punctuation beyond the basics much at all. Commas were not only misused in the usual ways; they are also misused in new and creative ways. Sometimes they were improperly placed so that they chopped up a sentence and hindered meaning. Multiple times they were improperly used in dialogue, including at the end of an action near dialogue that wasn't a dialogue tag as well as improperly bracketing a dialogue tag/action between two complete sentences of dialogue. Capitalization in quotes was often wrong as well. Semicolons, too, were randomly thrown into the work when a comma should have been used. Sometimes spaces were forgotten between a comma and the next word. Occasionally, too, there was a misspelling or wrong word; even one of the character's name was misspelled. This disregard of punctuation, in particular, was really quite distracting.The story itself was complex and enjoyable. I just wish I wasn't so distracted by all of the errors.I received a free advance copy of the book, but obviously this did not affect my review.

Lady Emily grew up not knowing she was really a orphan but with her father lavishing all her wants. When she meets her twin in town she wants to trade places with her b cause her father has bethroth her to man who only wants her dowry so she becomes Ava Smith a governess to Lord Hemsworth who is guardian to James and Cressida. This is where several twists and turns start to happen. Enjoyable story that kept me reading.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This is one book in a duet of charming regency romances about identical twin sisters separated at birth through no fault of their own. When the girls first meet and realize that they are exact replicas of each other, twin sisters in fact, Emily and Ann decide to switch places, Emily to escape an unwanted betrothal and experience freedom from the restrictions of ton life. And Ann to experience ton society and break off Emily's engagement. This is Emily's exciting story as a governess in a duke's household and of falling in love with her duke. A charming and sweet romance to indulge in.

These two book series is the story of twin girls separated at birth and then later in life finding each out. This book is Emily story, but you will also get a touch of Ava too. This group of books were so unusual and interesting you really do not need to read the first book to enjoy the second, but I highly recommend you get both girls stories. Awesome twists with glorious misunderstanding and a fun read. Hope you take a chance and pick it up it well worth it. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.

Not as good as book one. Though that one had the sister who grew up with more going on in her life, and the hunt for the birth parents.I expected a little more angst in this, an H who was more brash. It lacked either, so that may be why it was a tad boring.

This book is a great summery of the building process. Would have given it 5 stars but it is very similar to "The Future Architects's Handbook".

Quinn and I were both excited to get our hands on The Future Architect's Tool Kit by Barbara Breck. It looked like it might be something fun for the kids and it definitely delivers!The book explains how to create plans and a model for a house, including site plans and floor plans and elevation. (It builds on the information presented in The Future Architect's Handbook, which I haven't seen yet.) I like the way the author presented so much solid information without overwhelming the reader. The imaginary clients at the end seem a bit too silly, but when I handed the book over to my future wildlife rehabilitator, he happily designed a dream home with rooms for possums. And a craft room, because in his mind all houses should have one.Along with the book is a scale ruler, eraser, pencil, and sharpener. The box that holds it all is sturdy and has a velcro closure, perfect for keeping everything contained on a bookshelf.I definitely recommend this one for creative kids. The publisher provided me with an advance review copy. My opinions are my own.

This tool kit will have young architects' hearts beating faster. . .and lure in curious adults too.Designing a house is more than just grabbing a pencil and paper, and this kit leads the way through the basic concepts, concerns and how-to tips. Through step-by-step chapters, the basics of architectural design are revealed and everything from floor plans, surrounding landscape and future owners' tastes are explored. Since learning is doing, a architect's scale, graph paper, pencil and eraser are included with the book.Opening the kit is a bit like diving into a present. The hard cover version of The Future Architect's Handbook immediately catches the eye, but it doesn't take long to see the side compartment holding simple architect's scale, a pencil and a white eraser, as well as the pad of graph paper tucked in with the book. This alone is a treat. The case itself is thin cardboard but fairly robust, and the Velcro tab insures that the lid can be opened and closed many times, making a perfect storage place.The book is around 45 pages and rich in illustrations. These are black and white, and help to bring clarity to the information presented in the text. The author does a great job of giving a general overview, while bringing just the right details which will interest kids to light. Everything is explained in an easy to read way, and even the architectural terms are described in a way readers ages 10+ can grasp. Unfortunately, there isn't a glossary to describe the individual terms again at the end of the book.The chapters are fairly short, letting readers soak in the information bit by bit. This also gives them time to start to nibble on ideas of their own. Everything from the location of a house, types of houses, floor plans and individual desires is discussed. At the end, there are examples of how to draw different items (stairs, sinks, toilets, etc) on the graph paper.There's quite a bit of information packed in the pages, and the illustrations and examples come from basic architectural design. So kids would recognize the elements again if seeing a professional design. This is what also makes it interesting for curious adults; the information doesn't really talk down to the kids, but gives an honest, quick overview into the world of basic architecture in a way they can understand.I received a complimentary copy from the publisher by enjoyed this so much (as did my 11-yr-old son) that I wanted to leave my honest thoughts.

I appreciated the fact that the terms were in understandable language, such as site plan, floor plan, elevations, and scale.The author explains what "drawing to scale means, how building codes affect a house, and how to design a house using the parameters and a bubble design to help you get started with your design along with graphs and charts to aid in drawing to scale.There are plenty of illustrations to help you with your outline, measurements, and even a section on how to build a model of your house using an xacto knife and cardboard! Then you are given a list of imaginary clients, such as a giant who thinks he is a hobbit, or a dog in a wheelchair who plays soccer to design a house for using your imagination!This is a fun book for the budding architect!

What an excellent book!! It is literally full of facts and details that any budding architect out there would want to know. I learnt a fair bit too as an adult! Loved the layout and the images - 5 stars

It's always fun to analyze oneself. This book goes one step further and recommends types of people with whom one should partner. It's obvious that a shy person should partner with an outgoing person; a creative type with a business mind. But it's a good reminder.

Here's what you need to know about StrengthsFinder 2.0:- Buy the book new. Each copy includes a scratch off passcode that gives you access to the StrengthsFinder 2.0 test. It can only be used once and the book is a waste without the test.- The book itself is largely a description of the strengths measured by the test. It's a companion to the test and not something you wold read on its own, but it does a great job of bringing the test to life.- The test is worth the price of admission. It's 177 rapid-fire questions that reveal the top five themes, or strengths associated with your personality. Knowing these strengths is critical, because they are unchangeable traits that will enable you to succeed to your fullest potential.- I also purchased the Amazon recommended Emotional Intelligence 2.0. I enjoyed it immensely as well.

The concept is excellent, and the eventual assessments I received is spot on. The actual meat is extremely useful. However... Two important things:1. You can purchase the assessment online directly.2. The book itself does not provide you with tools to assess yourself. It’s a reference of classifications with action items that is useful to know.The only thing that bothered me is that Gallup is trying to up sell the “new version” claiming that they provided “integrated” solutions for you, individualized based on their millions of data points. Let me tell you that is a total bull. They merely cut and pasted the sections from the same book, spiffed it up with a few action questions. Then they try to sell you their packages and that you need a coach.They would have been just fine without that lame marketing.Do not buy a used book if you want to take assessment test. It’s a one-time code inside a sealed document.

This book comes with an access code so the reader can take the test online. However, the test only delivers the top-five traits the user scores in. A few other helpful reports are available as well, with the Strength Insights and Action-Planning Guide being the most in-depth. The catch? It costs another $90 to gain access to the report that details where the user ranks in all 34 areas. No thanks. I'm not that curious. Had this been stated in the book description, I would not have bought it.

This book is quite simplistic and valuable. When I returned to college as an adult this book was a requirement in one of my business classes. It really does nothing but have you go on line and answer a survey that takes very little time and based on your answers comes back to your five greatest strengths. The book is so incredibly accurate that based on one of my strengths it told me I am probably the type of person who collects baseball cards, which I have done for over 40 years. There wasn't a single question about cards in the survey. My wife and I have since bought each of our children one so that they could take the survey before they finished high school in hopes that it might help steer them towards a career that although they might not know it could be something they are actually quite interested in and could do quite well. Much better then having them figure that out in there third year of college when they decide they are majoring in the career field. Highly recommend this book to anyone with high school students, or even themselves. How well it will completely analyze you is absolutely amazing and the book clearly explains each of your strengths to help provide you with an insight to yourself. Well worth the money!!!!

I liked the survey and being able to take a look at the results, HOWEVER, you only get five of your 34 and that only goes so far. The resources you get when you take the online test are basically the same information that you get in the book. And then they send you a lot of emails to buy more stuff and take advantage of coaching, etc. I'd love to, but I don't know that it's worth it to spend hundreds of dollars on all the extras. Without seeing tangible results, it's hard to justify going down the rabbit hole on this one.

I once took this quiz for free. It was fun. It provided a long list of my "strengths," pretty much in the order I would've guessed. Because that was a long time ago--and because I thought I might get more out of the book, I purchased this 2.0 version. There are several places that mention the 34 "talents" or "themes." On one page, it's stated that I'll receive a "top five theme report," but, on the next page, it states that I'll receive "an overview of each of the 34 themes." I thought that meant an overview, i.e. something brief, of MY remaining strengths. After taking the quiz this morning, I discovered that I would have to pay extra for the remaining 29. I believe the "sale price" was approximately $39. I reread the book's description on Amazon. It DOES mention "a more customized version of your top five." Maybe most people would understand that to mean *only* five. After previously taking the quiz for free and getting a more detailed report, I assumed the wrong thing. This was my first experience of getting partway through a book then needing to spend more money. It's like "Offers In-App Purchases." When I called the contact number, the representative told me I'm the first person to complain. Do I believe that? No.

I chose a whopping 5 star rating for this book because I feel like this could help out so many other teens like me that are going through problems, but not only teens, this book could help anyone, really. I recommended this book to so of my adult friends (mom and dad friends) and they really seemed to like it, and I could really tell they are using what they learned in this book because they just seem more... well, happy! They seem to have a better grip on life and emotions. I truly recommend this book to anyone. Eighty years old but still having trouble in life? It's never too late to pick up this book! Maybe you are ten and wish you could escape from the real world but also get your life ready for whatever may happen? I can almost guarantee that this book is that you are looking for! As for some people that don't like to read but want a better life.. like the eighty and ten year olds, I suggest you read this book. Or since this is the 21st century, have a bot or something read this to you. As for the author of this book... thank you. Thank you for helping my grasp on life, my sight to beauty, my entire mindset, and my interactions to people of all types. Though the chance you read my comment is most likely one to many, I still thank you. And thank you to everyone who helped write and or make this book, your efforts will not be forgotten.

This is actually a funny story... I ordered this book because for some crazy reason the hardback was at a lower price than the paperback. So I was like, "SCORE!" then when the book arrived and it was only two inches tall, *facepalm* however, my teenager loved it! And still, gives me crap out not properly reading the description before purchasing the item!

This book was referred to me by the Asperger Experts. My son has aspergers. He is highly intelligent and a sweet soul, but I needed something to help him to understand what makes a person effective/successful in life. As he matures and as he heads off to high school very soon, this book will be so very helpful to him. I feel it is a wonderful resource for parents and teachers to share with all teens. The world is big and coming at them so fast. Lets equip them in every way that we can. There is a workbook that you can purchase also. My son will be working through this (this year) as he starts the 8th grade. Thank you Sean Covey!

The general ideas and concepts are only a positive addition to you or your teens life. We started reading this to our kids at 8 and 9 years old and having a general discussion on habits and behaviors discussed in the book. I share this book with whomever as a great starting point for teens trying to develop an active action plan based on what they want and are interested in, as well as assisting them in reflecting on what it is that they want and what do their current behaviors show that they really want. Great starting point. If your teen is not a reader or a little hesitant, get creative. Read a chapter a night or every few days as a family and discuss it. Be consistent with it, they will open up if you remain quiet and allow them to really think for themselves and freely share their thoughts with you as they try to figure out the life that they want to live for themselves.

My 15 year old daughter asked for this book for her birthday after studying it in one of her classes at school. I love giving a book at birthday and holiday and this one was worth every penny. She loves this book and reads it often. This is a must give book to your child of they have a personality that loves organization, leadership, social situations, business, and communication. She often references something she has read in the book with is. I very pleased.

Bought for my 14yo daughter but, my 12 year old son can't wait until he gets to read it too. Author speaks directly to teens and my son was hooked after I read him just a sample. Both kids aren't done reading the book yet so i can't say how effective it is but the fact that they both want to read it says alot about how well the author does in connecting with the younger generation.

Bought this for my HS students as an alternative read. They love it! I think I will buy a classroom set and use it as a part of my curriculum next year!

My children (13 year old twins) have really enjoyed this book. Sean does a great job of making the Seven Habits of Highly Effective People relevant to teenagers. The books is not a marginally revised version of the original; it is a complete rewrite with entirely different examples and many different quotes.

This book is an eye opener on Antitrust and the gov't abuse of it and the court's misunderstanding of economics and the intent of the law.

In the Antitrust Paradox, Judge Robert H. Bork gives a fascinating, though demanding, review of the most important antitrust issues in the United States. Purchased for my 103 year old aunt. Can't read printed books anymore but she loves audio books. This author and the reader are her favorites.

Excellent book. Helped me to understand the holy spirit and how to discern whether God/Holy Spirit is really directing you or whether it's human choice or evil crossing your path. Max's books are always interesting, humorous and offer many ways to teach. You are learning whether you know it or not. It seemed that with every question I asked myself, the answer was there in black and white to reaffirm. The has been one of my favorite books by Max.I even purchased 2 more for my sons.

Lovely stories, great inspiration, a feast for the soul.

This is the second book I have read by Max Lucado. The first was He Still Moves Stones. I was so inspired by it I decided to order this one. It is more personal and each chapter can be read individually and you can come back and reread it. You need to really think about each chapter as they all have a message and analogy for walking the walk with Jesus Christ . He writes in a manner that is easy to understand and he makes you think about it after you read it.....I am reading it slowly and trying to digest each chapter, think about it and apply it to my life. It is a very comforting book to me and very real. I can't wait to read more of his books.

If there were 10 stars that is what is what I would rate it. I have gone through it over and over again. It is so encouraging! Mr. Lucado brings Bible stories to life and has convinced me that these stories are our stories. I am going to use this book in conjunction with Dr. Charles Stanley's Encouragement CD's for my current Bible Study group.

This is a wonderful easy read spiritual book. Max Lucado rises up to inspire inspiration on modern every day living and brings it directly back to the Bible corresponding life issues from persons living long ago.Of course , he also gives Jesus's views .Every chapter is different so you can put it down and pick it up again at a later time without losing your way.Heartily recommend this book.

Great book makes me really listen for the still small voice of my God, and what he has for me. I listen in the morning when all is quiet, and I can hear him whisper my name. He tells me to let him have the troubles of the day. Which is why I will recommend this book to all to read.

Interesting to hear Ozzy 's side of things, such as him biting the head off of a dove, and a bat, and shooting his chickens. His retelling of stories will make you laugh out loud. Accidentally woke my husband up a few times while reading. The story of the thermometer had me rolling, as did the banana story. He talks about his different jobs, his family, his addictions, the music, and basically how he is just a normal man who happens to be the prince of darkness. Just because he's rich and famous doesn't mean he doesn't take a s*** like the rest of us lolI ordered the book used, and it came in great condition considering how it was a library book in its previous life, which means it has that awesome old book smell that I love so much. All in all, an awesome purchase!

I owned the first 2 Black Sabbath albums. I watched all the Ozzy show episodes on VH1. I knew there was an incidence he admitted to biting the head off of a dove, but he had said publicly he was in a drug black-out at the time and basically regretted it. So I thought he’d changed, had become a lot more lovable and rational off the drugs. In the description of the book he says these things “haunted me.” Yet in the actual book, he turns the cruel things he’s done into a big joke.I got past the fish-killing episode in grade school early on in the book, thinking that was a very strange, ugly thing for a child to do. Then I got to the fire episode where he claimed his mother’s false teeth flew out of her mouth so hard after she coughed that they smashed through a window. At that point I thought, oh no, is this going to be another Stephen Tyler hallucinogenic rambling where he just makes up outrageous stories?Not hardly a page later I come to the part where he says “I got a job I enjoyed…. I was a natural at killing animals.” He goes on for 7 pages about how he enjoyed his job at a slaughterhouse where he worked for a year and a half. The way he jokes all the way through it is absolutely sickening. He goes into detail about the killing, calling it his favorite job, and how he loved to play “his favorite practical joke” using the eyeballs of dead cows. Another fun thing to do was play with stomachs of “crippled old sheep.” He jokes about how the cows struggled to live, “at one point I thought I’d be the one who’d end up in a bun, covered with ketchup.” About his job killing pigs he says “they say the only thing wasted on a pig is the squeal,” and how what he did to the pigs was worth it for a good meal, etc. One story sounds like a joke with a punchline he made up, where he claims he was barbecuing steaks one day when some cows came over from the next field and he told them “I’m sure it’s no relation.” Hilarious, right?It was definitely not the words of someone looking back and wondering how they could have ever thought and acted like that. It’s like he’s bragging about how insanely cruel he was. And there was no drugs to blame for any of this either. What kind of psychopath would enjoy killing animals and give no indication of feeling bad about it? At that point I put the book down in disgust.I don’t understand the 700 almost-all 5-star ratings, except to simply say Ozzy is rich and rich people can buy things. Not a single 1-star rating – yet. How anybody could realistically give this 5 stars after reading those 7 pages of jokes about killing animals is unfathomable.We really need to stop making heroes out of these twisted “celebrities” in society who think animal cruelty is funny or acceptable just because we admire their sportsmanship (Michael Vick) or their musicianship (Ozzy). (And yes, I’m a long-time vegan, for anyone asking, and no, I’m not a member of PETA.)

Ozzy paints his life, from his poor childhood, to the early days of rock-n-roll, to the height of fame and fortune. All in his hilarious style that made me laugh my 'arse' off - the most funny book I've read period, but also full of real-life wisdom. Since childhood, he had ADHD and dyslexia (he could not read), but from the beginning of Black Sabbath though his solo career, most of his albums hit top-10 in both England and America, and millions of fans to this day. An incredibly gifted man, Ozzy is.

Who but the Prince of Darkness could have given us this humorous, brutally honest and darkly compelling autobiography. Reading it brought out a rollercoaster of emotions. I was in turns amused, fascinated and saddened by Ozzy's stories of his bizarre adventures. As he himself admitted, by all reckoning he missed dying upon a number of occasions. Somehow he survived, grew up and faced down his demons.A cautionary tale, but also one about the enduring love of his wife and family who were with him during his darkest hours.

Well written amazing tales of an iconic rock and roll musician. Ozzy is hilarious (as most people know) and the stories here are tales of excess and overindulgence. There is another side of Ozzy that comes to light while reading the book: he is truly a nice guy who avoids confrontation at all costs. The early Black Sabbath years are insightful and allows the reader to step into the creative process.Some of the tales of sin and debauchery drag on but the amount of drugs and booze consumed by Ozzy is legendary.All in all I highly recommend this book to those who can't get enough of the backstage, up close and personal views of old time rock and rollers.

Great story for fans of this genre. However some of his most hard-core disciples may be disappointed by a component of it that I won't reveal, and the meek might be mortified by others. All the usual rock bio sex, drugs and general craziness & irresponsibility, etc. but very humorously and sensitively embellished and as well. Often at his own expense. I found myself almost daily sharing parts of it with friends. One of those enlightening books that I looked forward to reading from every day and where in the end the subject became someone who I think I'd like to know personally although before I couldn't have cared less...
