Was not as interesting as I had hoped. I enjoy detailed medical memoirs and felt the subject was not the main focus of the book.

Thank you for describing the powerful moments. You put eloquent words to what draws us into the practice of emergency medicine. The ability to help those who are the most vulnerable and scared. I loved the writing. Thoughts. Moments. Thank you for sharing the beauty of emergency medicine.
The story was engaging and I loved how Dr. Maskalyk weaved his grandfather's story when time was slow, simple, and meaningful into the demands of the emergency room with everything versus the demands of another emergency room that was simple in its infrastructure yet so complex in its needs. I do not yet know Dr. Maskalyk, but he is my cousin and his grandfather is my uncle. Uncle Michael is the last of 13 children living from an era bygone... and my cousin captures this beautifully as an anchor in his own life.
